Be Gentle
So...here I am. Blogging. I'm a blogging virgin, though I am a huge fan of blogging I've only recently started to muster the courage to start one of my own. So be gentle with me, because it's my first time. ;)
I suppose the best place to start is to introduce myself. I'm Beege. I'm the wife of a man who is really more wonderful than I deserve--but he thinks I'm hotter than he deserves, so perhaps it all evens out in the end. We have one child, a daughter, who just turned a year old on January 30th. She is the most amazing, amazing, amazing thing I've ever had anything to do with.
My career has placed me in Kansas. I'm not happy about this. I'm really really not impressed that Topeka seems to be proud that it's been named the most homophobic city in the United States (Time Magazine). Living here in "Red Kansas" has taught me that (apparently) I'm about one election away from burning my bra, knitting hemp underwear, and throwing away my Venus razor so I can join some sort of liberal hippy commune. At least that's the look I get when people find out I voted for Kerry. Unless it's another Kerry supporter, and then we cling together like long lost relatives. So sad.
But I'm getting out. Or rather: we're getting out. My husband is going to start work on his PhD, so we'll be moving to a bluer state at the end of summer. Whoo-effin-hoo!!!! (Lest I come off as really political, I should say that the fact that it's a blue state is a coincidence. Welcome. But a coincidence.)
Let's see...what else is useful to know about me? Frankly, I don't know what to add, because I'm totally unconvinced that anyone will read this. I LOVE to knit. But only with really good yarns...otherwise: don't waste my time. So it's an expensive hobby. I think M (husband) thought that we'd save a lot of money because I could knit him sweaters instead of buying them. Ha! Let's imagine, for a moment, that I would even complete the sweater in anything remotely resembling a timely manner. We could still buy him about three sweaters for what I'd spend on yarn for one. Plus: I wouldn't get the gauge right, and all three of us would be able to wear it at the same time. So I guess I should say: I knit rectangular items. Preferably with no gauge. Oh! And baby hats. I've knit a buttload of those lately for my uberfertile friends. We're poppin' em out like crazy, folks.
And, finally, I'm about to turn 30. I'm not freaking or anything. But I'm finding that it's causing me to be a little introspective. It's also causing me to look for wrinkles, but I still look like I'm about 19.
So. That's me. Beege in a nutshell. Wife. Mother. Rumored to be a raving, free-love liberal. Knitter. Almost 30. And now: a blogger.

Welcome to the blogging world!
Here's a nifty way to justify those expensive sweater projects: you're not just paying for the clothing item; you're also getting hours and hours of entertainment. So it balances.
Beege, I'm so glad you started!
And I'm with you on the knitting - rectangles and hats. Lots of them.
Yay! Welcome to the blogging world Baby Girl!
I love how you write and I am looking forward to reading more.
FYI - don't knit, but admire those who do...
Yay Beege! Glad you took the plunge - can I link to you?
I can't knit to save my life -had to knit in a play once - had a really long run too - I managed to knit a long rectangle full of dropped stitches that unravelled once the play was over!
Hey! I'm following Poppy's advice and thought I'd check out your blog and lend some support.
It's a good read!
Hey, Dix! Thanks for stopping by!
Sure you can link to me, Sal!
